Are you a TEFL newbie?

Don't worry, you're in safe hands! Teaching English as a foreign language or TEFL, refers to teaching English to learners whose first language is not English. You can become TEFL qualified by taking a practical classroom-based course or by signing up to one of our flexible online TEFL courses. The world of teaching English is open to anyone who can speak English and there are job vacancies in every country every single month. TEFL jobs are offered on a contract basis so schools are constantly hiring.

If you're looking for a way to travel the globe and get paid, TEFL is the answer! Grab your sense of adventure and follow these 4 steps to make it happen.

Pick Your Course

As an English speaker you're already on the way to being employable as an English teacher. Completing a TEFL course is your ticket to being able to work all over the world. Many ELT (English Language Teaching) jobs will require applicants to hold a TEFL qualification with a minimum of 120 hours training. Secure the best TEFL job and employment package by completing one of our comprehensive training courses.

Get Your Certificate

Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today! You'll be given a generous 75 days to complete any online components on your chosen TEFL course. During your studies you'll be supported by a dedicated customer mentor team and also have access to an academic tutor for any tricky parts of the course. On completion of your course you'll request your certificate and pin it proudly on the wall ahead of your adventure abroad.

Choose A Country

Where you teach is completely up to you! You get to choose which jobs you apply for and what locations you'd like to work in. We work with loads of reputable employers who are always recruiting for TEFL teachers. You can apply online or get in touch with the jobs team with any questions that you might have. If you'd like to start a TEFL job soon, apply for positions while completing your TEFL course so that you can pack that suitcase as soon as your certificate is ready! If you'd prefer a short teaching contract, check out our teaching internships. Choosing your teaching country could be based around a place you've always wanted to visit, your desire to learn a new language or because the salary is very competitive. Whatever the reason, the TEFL Express Job Hunter's Guide is essential reading during this step to working abroad.

Start Teaching

Once you've accepted a job contract you can apply for your visa (if required) and price flights. The excitement will start building now and you'll be planning a massive leaving party to say good bye to all of your jealous friends. On arrival at your teaching location you'll meet your new colleagues and start to make friends. The first lesson you ever teach will be a life-changing experience…prepare yourself with some of our teaching resources specifically designed for you in your new career.
