For our January “TEFL Nomads on the Road”, we’ve chosen a location that’s a little off the normal tourist track: Lang Son. Join TEFL Express illustrator Giang as your tour guide for this month’s installment.
Lạng Sơn, a city in far northern Vietnam, is the capital of Lạng Sơn Province. It is accessible by road and rail from Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, and it is the northernmost point on National Route 1A.
Lạng Sơn city has a modern lifestyle. But if you go further to Phiêng village, my hometown, you’ll find a very different place. Phiêng villagers have kept their rice agriculture, sparse population, and a lot of people still live in stilt houses. The stilt houses keep them safe from animals & floods.
There is not any kind of professional tourism; you will have to discover their nature, beauty, and local culture yourself.
