Join me in Santiago de Chile!
About the town Santiago is a great city to check out. It’s a bit isolated so it’s probably best to visit during your tour of South America or Chile. But that just gives it more off-the-beaten-path cred! You won’t be mobbed by tourists everywhere you go. The city is next to the Andes so there are beautiful mountain views and trekking paths for the adventurous. For the relaxed traveler there are plenty of museums, cafes and other big city things to keep you entertained
Things to see & do • trekking in the Andes • Costenera Center – the tallest building in South America • day trip to Valparaiso for sea and street art • La Moneda • Museo Bellas Artes • visit one of the many parks and plazas • walk through the different barrios to get a feel for the city • Plaza de Armas • wine tastings •
Things to buy • lapis lazuli • merken • copper • moai statue • indio picaro •
Things to try • chorrillana (a personal favorite!) • empanada (classic street food in assorted flavors) • pisco sour (the most popular cocktail) • completo (the local take on a hot dog) •
