Sri Lanka is a different world. Depending on where you go, you’ll see all different climates and terrains. I stayed in the south/central area, so I didn’t get to have exciting beach adventures. You totally could though! Sri Lanka has mountains, forests, tea farms and, of course, great beaches.
If you choose to travel around the country, which I recommend, you should do it by train. It’s relaxing and you’ll see so much of the gorgeous countryside. I traveled between Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Ella. They’re all beautiful and different places, but I think 90% of my photos were (unsuccessful) attempts to capture the beauty of the country seen through my train windows.
Sri Lankan food hasn’t made it to the Western world as much as its neighboring cuisines, but it’s just as good. You’ll find a lot of curry and a lot of vegetarian plates, making their cuisine similar to Indian food. However, many Sri Lankan curries are made with coconut milk, like Thai curries. You also have to try something devilled (chicken, prawns, etc.).
